Charlotte Hornets: Horns Out ES Veer

  • Nice set for a shooter here as the Hornets go to a pretty commonly ran late game action veering the ES step up off the baseline drive
  • Notice how Charlotte fakes Rozier coming off the flare from Hayward first into the action. The Hornets are elite at disguising Rozier with decoy off-ball screens like this. Making it look like a “shooters choice” action and Rozier does an excellent job selling them consistently.

Charlotte Hornets: Stagger Turn

  • Once again we see another variation of the turn screen this time being utilized into a stagger — DHO. If you have been following along with these X’s & O’s dumps your probably seeing a pattern by now with these actions correct?

Utah Jazz: Dunker Downscreen

  • You could probably even have an argument that this qualifies as a variation of a turn screen.
  • Really nice opening set here as the Jazz purposefully run this because they know Zubac wants to stay in the paint. Forces Morris to get through and Lauri makes a great read on the overplay.

Orlando Magic: Keep Set

  • Nice set from the Magic here to get there big downhill to start the game. Like how they have the backside pin in as well for Banchero.

Iowa State: Elbow Over Block Pin

  • Again similar to the turn screen, it feels like these block downscreens dating back to the triangle offense can be found almost 3–4 times a week when you sit down and watch a game.
  • I really like the idea of using another perimeter player closest to the ball into the over action. Gives it a little better flow and pace. Obviously not ideal for all sets, but something I would try to tinker with to see if I can get it within my over actions.
