Minnesota Timberwolves: Staggered Get

  • Nice concept by Minnesota to get Russell downhill vs the dropped big. Ran a similar concept that I posted on Twitter out of a Pistol look. Here they run it out of an ES Double.
  • The popularity of the get action continues to grow as it can be utilized as a substitute for a ball screen but also allows a large amount of freedom from all 5 offensive players on the court to get into the next action immediately whether that is on or off the ball

Miami Heat: Triple Splits

  • The Bilbao and Triple Splits from the Miami Heat have been staples of their offense for a while now.
  • They do a great job mixing up looks with initiators within the action from the mid-post utilizing Bam, Lowry, and Jimmy Butler all of which provide different benefits from their positioning within the actions.
  • One concept that I really like in the first clip of this compilation is where Bam is involved as a screener within the triple split action. After his screen he becomes available for a skip and immediately gets into a stationary pitch with Strus.

Penn State: Wedge Bilbao Flare

  • You will not find a team in Division I basketball over the last two years that has run better stuff than Penn State. Arguably even a basketball team in general.
  • Here’s a nice extension to the increasingly popular Bilbao action. Where they flare backside for a shooter off the first screen in the stagger.
  • They do a great job with their positioning as well with the 5 man in the opposite block & putting his assignment in the low man position in help for the flare.
