Opening ATO: ES Get Double Hammer

• Nice opening ATO here intial look is to get ball handler downhill and either get a look at the rim or the double flare for a skip pass to shooter in the corner
• Hammer actions are extremely popular “Specials” Opening ATO’s, EOG, Need a 3, etc.

Shallow Cuts from Middle P&R vs Aggressive Coverage

• Love the concept of utilizing the shallow cuts up the middle vs aggressive coverage
• It manipulates the tag but also gives the ball handler an out to get the ball out early and maintaing that slight advantage that is obtained through aggressive coverages a concept I call keeping the ball hot.
• Personally I would prefer the shallow cut to come more from a loop with more pace from the corner or 45, but this showcases a nice read that coaches can teach if they are incorporating some Spain P&R in their offense.

Out Duck In

• Pretty simple Duck in set. Get it there off the swing to big off the flare rather than the intial quick hitting entry from opposite side wing
• Zalgiris had a similar duck in set they ran with Schiller that I have lying around somewhere if anyone wants to see that.

Grenade Actions (Post DHO’s)

• Grenade DHO’s are becoming more and more popular and rightfully so. They are a very hard action to guard and a great way to incorporate a big into your offense that may not be the best scoring threat
• In the first clip, Greece is running just your typical ES Ball Screen motion in their early offensive attack. After the second side P&R they immediately get into the grenade action.
• This would be a great wrinkle to enhance your ball screen motion offense.

Dunker Pick and Pop vs Aggressive

• Love the floor balance of the middle pick and pop from the dunker pick and roll.
• It really enlogates the tag and if you have a real shooting threat at the big, I think this is one of the simplest and best advantages a team can create in the halfcourt.

Basline Corner Cut vs ICE

• This was an interesting one. Greece goes single side Pick and roll personally not a huge fan of just based on the fact that I think there’s better ways to create larger advantages with a ball screen.
• Seeing that there is little space to manuever and operate if the ICE coverage is carried out effectively and GB forces the ball handler baseline, the corner clears out creating more space for the handler to reject and hit the short roll with no tag
