Buducnost P&R Concept: Early Pass

  • A great concept that requires patience from your ball handler within the pick and roll
  • As the defense loads up to the ball early instead of coming off the pick and roll the guard looks to be a ball mover early and fires a stationary pass to create a closeout for the high 2 side

Buducnost: Hedge Attack

  • I’m a huge fan of the baseline reject on an empty side ball screen if it’s available.
  • Here Buducnost does a great job attacking the hedge her doing just that and punishing the low man help & creates an opportunity for a shot at the rim

Monaco: End of Game

  • A simple, but well-executed and effective set that Monaco utilizes to steal a basket at the end of the first quarter of their game with less than 5 seconds on the game clock.

Rio Grande Valley & Partizan: Backscreen Reject Concept

  • Great concept if you utilizes some 5 out motion offense off of a delay catch.
  • Instead of using a backscreen or flare, you’re now getting the opinion to reject and what would have been a 2 man off the ball game into a 2 man on the ball game for a middle roll to the rim with great spacing.

Mornar Bar: Ram Ghost

  • A very effective set here from Mornar Bar that is usually an NBA favorite. Mornar puts a little tweak on the set, emptying out the same side corner as the ghost screen taking away any possible stunt on the ghost screener.
  • This is a great set for 2 shooters, or to get one of your larger wings/ballhandlers downhill with a head full of steam

Mornar Bar: Set for Shooter

  • If you want to get your shooters open it’s always a good idea to utilize them with a backscreen on the opposing teams 5 man or somebody they are hesitant to switch off of.
  • That split second to help on the initial action is all the shooter needs to either get open or run off a second screen on the opposite side of the floor like within this set.

Partizan: Double Ball Screen

  • This is a set I’ve seen Partizan run a few times. This is a great way to distort a tag with two ball screens and a backside flare.
  • This is obviously an extremely unique spacing, some people prefer the concept of bad space to good space within some sets in order to create the defensive being suffocated in, in order to push them back out into closeouts.

RGV: 2nd side ES Step Up

  • Anybody that has read my newsletter before knows I am a big fan of second side actions and concepts. I think they are key to any conceptual offense or ball screen offense
  • Here Rio Grande Valley goes with a 45 cut into an empty side step up. I love this concept where if you end up spaced with a guard to guard rather than a big that requires a coverage, you could just ghost screen this step up in order to re center the basketball.
  • Rio Grande Valley begins a lot of their possessions with an empty side step up, I like the idea as it presents an opportunity for a baseline drive, but also hit a short roll towards he middle of the floor.

Bayern Munich: Hedge Attack

  • Bayern does not score on this set and hits the second side of the floor, but this a great set to attack a hedge in my opinion.
  • In order to properly attack a coverage you need the proper floor balance. Bayern does a great job using multiple cuts off the stagger to distort the tag and utilizing the ram action off it as well in order to create some seperation between the screen in his man.

Bayern Munich: Offensive Flow

  • This is picture perfect 5 out Conceptual offense.
  • I would strongly suggest any coach watch this game from Bayern, they had some really great offensive flow possesions within this one, especially in the first half.

Zenit: Low Post Set

  • Zenit with a low post set that contains one of my favorite concepts attacking the low man with an off ball action off the post touch.
